Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Physical.Industries collects through our site, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email hello@physical.industries.
Information we collect
When you contribute to the Backlog: the problem you describe; your answers about its cost, urgency, budget, the tools you use today, and who would approve a fix; your name, role, industry, and company size; your work email, which may identify your employer; the options you select, such as joining the operator network, asking for help, or being credited; and your LinkedIn profile, if you ask to join the operator network.
When you request an invite to the operator network: your name, work email, role, company, industry, and LinkedIn profile.
When you submit as a founder: your name, email, company, website, industry, a description of what you're building, your stage, and whether you've spoken with operators.
When you sign up for updates: your email address.
Automatically: our website host collects standard visit statistics. If you arrive through a contributor's referral link, we also record the referral code.
How we use information
To build and publish the Backlog and related research.
To send you results, confirmations, and updates you asked for.
To respond when you ask for help with a problem or ask to join the operator network.
To review submissions and remove duplicates and submissions from vendors.
To connect founders and operators when both have agreed.
To operate, secure, and improve the site.
What we publish
We publish only aggregated results and anonymized quotes. We never publish your individual answers, your company's name, or anything that identifies you or your company without your permission. If you choose to be credited as a founding contributor, we publish only your first name, last initial, and role, for example "Jim M., CPG plant manager."
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:
Service providers. The tools that run this site, like our website host, database, and email service.
Our affiliates. We may share information with our affiliates, including an affiliated investment firm.
Introductions you request. We share your information with a founder, vendor, or operator only when you've asked us to make an introduction.
Legal requirements. When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of others.
Business transfers. If Physical.Industries is merged, acquired, or sold, this policy continues to apply to information collected under it.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing hello@physical.industries. We respond within 30 days. Results we have already published in aggregate can't be withdrawn, but they never identify you.
You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email, or by writing to us.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including comparing results across annual editions of the Backlog.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information.
Do Not Track
Our site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals from web browsers.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant and we have your email address, we will let you know by email.
